Ariel Pink Pom Pom (2014)

Pierce plays guitar on a few tracks on the LA oddball’s wildest album. “I was in LA doing some shows and he [Pink] came round and said, ‘Do you wanna come down to the studio?’ It was astonishing what they were doing, all over the place. I don’t even know if the mix of that record shows the depth of what’s there. They can pull from ’70s funk records, soul and still make rock’n’roll records and they don’t sound like fusion.”

Yak

Pierce dabbled in production for the young London art-rockers. “I produced Yak and it was an absolute joy. I find it so much easier to please somebody else than to please myself, or to find a place where they can please themselves. It seems all you had to do was encourage them to play more and then recognise the beautiful bits. I only did a couple of tracks. As soon as they got some money they went off and spent it on getting a proper producer.”

Spiritualized “Always Together With You (The Bridge Song)” (2014)

Pierce contributed this love song to the Space Project album for Record Store Day, but he wasn’t sold on the concept. “I was broke. That was my main motivation,” he told NME at the time. “They said they’d give me $1,500 to do a drone, which I can do in my sleep. And they got lucky, because I didn’t go in to write a tune, but I came out with that song, so it kind of worked out.” He plans to release an improved version soon.

Be one (2016)

Pierce plays guitar, harmonica and autoharp alongside his Spiritualized bandmate Tony Foster on this conceptual drone symphony about bees.
