One of the highlights of the Melbourne indie group’s stunning debut album, Hope Downs JONATHAN PONEMAN: What’s not to love? Three great songwriters and great guitars – it reminds me of Television, that spiralling intensity. It lends a dignity to the form, because there is depth and intelligence to it, and it doesn’t feel like merely a retro exercise. There’s an urgency and a relevance that is surprising.

Hope Downs is as great a debut album as any I’ve heard in a long time.
