she remembers everything blUe nOTe 7/10 a bicoastal record from Johnny’s daughter

After three exceptional albums with husband/ producer John Leventhal, Rosanne Cash branches out… a little bit. Half of She Remembers Everything was recorded in New York with Leventhal, while the other half was recorded in Portland with Tucker Martine (Laura Veirs, Decemberists) manning the boards. Too often the music from both sessions provides little more than gauzy atmosphere, lacking the drive and purpose of previous albums. But Cash is a deft singer and evocative songwriter, whether on the list-of-demands track “Rabbit Hole” or the bold “8 Gods Of Harlem”, a Black Lives Matter anthem featuring Kris Kristofferson and Elvis Costello.
