Infinite Moment KOMPAKT 7/10 Blurry mist-scapes of electronica, à la Gas
For swedish producer Axel Willner, loops are the crux: it’s not for nothing that he named an earlier album Looping State Of Mind. But there’s something particularly potent in the way he mobilises snippets of sound and sets them in perpetual cycle, extracting every last drop of nuance and emotional import from their brief duration, while stretching them across 10-minute landscapes of electronica. Infinite Moment is the perfect title, then, for this sixth LP: beyond some odd interjections, like the junglist mania that ruptures the middle of “Divide Now”, here Willner does his usual, glorious thing.
