Motown Funk Brother (1936–2018)
Guitarist Eddie Willis was one of the last links to the original lineup of the Funk Brothers, Motown’s in-house band of the ’60s and early
’70s. Beginning his tenure with the label in 1959, Willis played on such evergreen classics as the Marvelettes’ “Please Mr Postman”, the supremes’ “You Keep Me Hanging On” and stevie Wonder’s “i Was Made to Love Her”. He was among those celebrated in 2002’s Funk Brothers documentary, Standing In The Shadows Of Motown.
