Texas rap player (1965–2018)

New Jersey native Collins Leysath, better known as DJ ready red, made his name as DJ and producer for texan rap outfit the Geto Boys. He helped shape the sound of the group’s 1988 debut, Making Trouble, alongside follow-up Grip It! On That Other Level and 1990’s remix project, The Geto Boys. red, who has died from a heart attack, was labelled “a pioneer” and “musical enforcer” by the Geto Boys’ Willie D, whose 1989 solo album, Controversy, he also produced.
