Swinging Londoner (1938–2018)
according to gallery owner robert Fraser, Christopher Gibbs was the inventor of ‘swinging London’ during the ’60s. the Chelsea antiques dealer, socialite and editor of Men In Vogue’s retail guide was sought out by Mick Jagger as a style mentor of sorts. in 1968, Gibbs introduced the stones to banker Prince rupert Loewenstein, who became the band’s longtime business manager. He also designed the set for 1970’s Performance, starring Jagger and James Fox.
