in 1970, Texan singer-songwriter Carol Hall signed a deal with elektra, releasing two low-key albums, If I Be Your Lady and Beads & Feathers. But her true calling was the theatre – she conceived the

1978 Broadway hit musical The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas, which became a Hollywood movie four years later, with Dolly Parton and Burt Reynolds in the lead roles. Hall’s songs were covered by Barbra Streisand, Tony Bennett, Miriam Makeba, Cyndi lauper, Reba Mcentire and more.
