JOHN WICKS
Frontman of The Records (1953–2018)
Singer-guitarist John Wicks joined pub rockers the Kursaal Flyers in 1977, just prior to their split. But he and drummer Will Birch struck up a songwriting partnership that flourished in their next project, The Records. The quartet became flagbearers of British power pop, with Wicks and Birch creating their ebullient signature song, “Starry eyes”. Most recently he recorded as John Wicks & The Records and worked with The Bangles’ Debbi Peterson as Broken Sky.
