BERNADETTE CARROLL

new Jersey girl group The Starlets enjoyed a regional hit in 1960 with “PS i love You”, first made famous by Rudy vallée. Founder member Bernadette Carroll was soon promoted by manager Tom DeCillis as a solo artist, issuing singles “My Heart Stood Still”, “nicky” and, most successful­ly, “Party Girl”. Along with Denise Ferri and Peggy Santiglia, Carroll then performed back-up duties for Connie Francis, Bobby Hebb, Frankie valli and lou Christie, singing on the latter’s 1966 US chart-topper, “lightnin’ Strikes”.
