MIG RECORDS/PROPER MUSIC 7/10 2015 all-star concert celebration for the lost Cream legend

Almost a year to the day after Jack Bruce’s death, London’s Roundhouse witnessed a worthy celebration of his life and career. Tastefully filmed by Jack’s daughter Kyla Simone Bruce, with musical direction from Nitin Sawhney, the night saw a cast of musos traverse the Bruce back catalogue: Phil Manzanera, Mark King, Bernie Marsden (who rips his way through “White Room”), Ian Anderson, and – in what may his final filmed appearance – Ginger Baker himself. Songs For A Tailor centrepiece “Rope Ladder To The Moon” gets an eerie jazz-cello reading from Ayanna Witter-johnson – testament to Bruce’s wide reach as a musician.
