PAUL VICKERS & THE LEG
Jump TENEMENT

Spring eternal for Dawn Of The Replicants frontman
An eccentric majorlabel signing, even in the 1990s boom years, Galashiels surrealists Dawn Of The Replicants were
– at a stretch – a JRR Tolkien remix of The Verve. Public indifference never deterred singer Paul Vickers, who continues to barrel through flooddamaged splurges like Jump, oblivious to having a voice that makes Family’s Roger Chapman sound like Val Doonican. A great torrent of ugly, his fourth outing with The Leg does Pere Ubu for giggles on “Little Turtle Wars” and “Xmas In The Jungle”, while closer “The Blackburn Giant” is a pleasingly awkward leap into Procol Harum gothic. Think ‘Tea & Symphony’ and dive in.
