‘MOLLY’ DUNCAN
Average White Band co-founder (1945–2019)
The tenor sax solo on the Average White Band’s joyous signature hit, 1974’s “Pick Up The Pieces”, belonged to Malcolm ‘Molly’ Duncan, who’d co-founded the band two years earlier. He and fellow AWB saxophonist Roger Ball had previously been known as the Dundee Horns during their time with prog-jazz outfit Mogul Thrash. POST-AWB, Duncan formed funk fusionists Knee Deep.
