Go wild canoeing down the Yukon River, Canada
The Yukon River winds for 1,982 miles, flowing from British Columbia through the Yukon Territory before crossing the heart of Alaska and into the Bering Sea.
Canoeing this waterway is an adventure of a lifetime and while it isn’t too challenging, paddling the entire thing would be a major, months-long endeavor. Instead, paddle the 460-mile stretch between Whitehorse and Dawson City which is particularly historic, taking about three weeks to accomplish, broken up by camping along the way. It’s suitable for anyone with basic canoeing skills, rated as a Class I river.
