11-NIGHTS CULINARY TOUR ACROSS SPAIN

-

Days 1 - 3

Madrid

Your mouth-watering gastronomic tour through Spain begins in the capital city Madrid. Take an expertly guided culinary tour of the city, stopping at gourmet shops and artisanal outlets to sample Iberico ham, the finest olive oil, and one of the city’s best chocolatiers.

Take a day trip out to the medieval village of Pedraza and equally historic Segovia with its UNESCO-listed Aqueduct and Old Town, and enjoy ample downtime to sample Madrid’s glittering plazas and outstanding café and restaurant scene.

Days 4 - 5

Bilbao

A high-speed train (with private transfers at either end) brings you to Bilbao on Spain’s northern coast, in the heart of the Basque Country. Meet a local guide for a tour of the city’s many intriguing neighborhoods and also have time to visit the stunning Guggenheim Museum, possibly the world’s greatest art gallery. A day trip is included out amongst the wider Basque Country and scenic Cantabrian Mountains, during which you’ll learn more about Basque culture, and enjoy a home-cooked lunch with local Cantabrian wine.

Days 6 - 8

San Sebastian

Travel along the coast to San Sebastian, stopping en route in the colorful fishing village of Bermo and the islet of Gaztelugatxe (or Dragonstone – to Game of Thrones fans). You’ll also pass through Gorka Izagirre winery, tasting its wonderful white wines and enjoy a pairing menu at the adjoining 3-starred restaurant. Once in San Sebastian you’ll enjoy a guided cycling tour through the medieval streets, with ample opportunities to sample pintxo and tapas. You’ll also take a memorable day trip out to the nearby Rioja region, famous for its red wines and medieval hilltop villages.

Days 9 - 11

Barcelona

Another high-speed train journey brings you out to Barcelona; on your night of arrival enjoy a luxury yacht cruise, enjoying live Catalonian music, wine, fresh fruit and snacks while cruising just off the city. Join expert local guides for day tours of the city, exploring first its links to Antoni Gaudi, and later exploring the city’s oldest hidden neighborhoods, stopping in at least six fine culinary spots along the way.

Finish your trip here in Barcelona, or speak to our consultants for extension ideas – perhaps down to Gothic delights of Seville, the majestic beaches of Andalusia, or across to Portugal for yet more fine food and wine.
