Teen injured in hit-and-run crash

POLICE are hunting a hit and run driver who caused a 14-year-old girl to suffer a hip fracture.

Hanna Jones was injured by a car in Wise Lane, West Drayton, on Friday November 27, around 8.30pm.

Police and the London Ambulance Service were called to the scene and the teenager was taken to Hillingdon hospital where she underwent an operation for a hip fracture and treatment for a shoulder and leg injury.

She has since been discharged but faces a year of physiotherapy.

The collision occurred when Hanna got off a U3 bus in Wise Lane and was struck at speed while crossing the road.

The car, believed to be a silver hatchback, was travelling westbound and failed to stop.

Police have obtained CCTV footage of the incident and are urging the driver to hand themselves in.

PC Tom Fowles said: “There is no doubt that the driver will have known instantly that they had caused significant injuries to a pedestrian having struck them in such a way.

“This driver can rectify the sheer disregard they showed at the time and now do the right thing in coming forward to speak to us.

“It’s likely that the bonnet of their car would have been visibly damaged and we are appealing to anyone who has seen this damage to a silver hatchback, which is not properly accounted for, to speak to us. We are also keen to speak to anyone else who witnessed the incident.

“Hanna is showing immense bravery in dealing with her injuries and intensive physiotherapy. Hanna’s 15th birthday also falls on Christmas Day and her mother Michelle has told me this driver’s callous actions have ruined her daughter’s special day.”
