Indulge your senses with new year sounds

Hayes FM presenter Hughie Dixon reviews the live band scene

-

HAPPY New Year folks. If you want to overindulge your senses in a bevy of sound without travelling too far this Friday January 8, then the Crown and Treaty pub on Oxford Road, Uxbridge is the place to be.

It’s free entry before 10pm and just £5 after and for that paltry sum you can wallow in wonderment at the mixed bag of sonic vibrations emitting from Bird Brain Mafia, Made In Paradise and The Lodgers.

Bird Brain Mafia are a West Drayton and Uxbridge based bunch of lads whose special blend of thrashing, prog-punk is just what the doctor ordered if you’re feeling like 2016 needs a wake up call.

Loud and proud with feet on the ground they shout and growl witty lyrics and fire gritty guitar riffs at you like it’s 1976 all over again. Never a dull moment with BBM.

Made In Paradise were made in London and are a five piece band of acoustic pop rockers.

New to the local scene yet with an impressive repertoire of self written catchy gems that show well nurtured talent.

Made In Paradise command respect and deserve your support.

The Lodgers www.soundcloud. com/thelodgers are a London sounding acoustic based foursome of melodic indie music makers. Cross Supergrass with Suede via late 60s Bowie and you’ll have a slight inkling as to what The Lodgers are about.

Catchy and profound. Harmonic and distorted. Easy on the ear yet inspirationally uplifting. You’re in for a good night. Spread the word.

Be sure to tune into my interactive HayesFM radio show every Tuesday at 9pm to hear live and original performers. PLUS more local live music news.

You can find HayesFM on 91.8fm in London or GLOBAL on www. hayesfm.org.uk
