There have been some weeks recently when the UK charts rundown on Radio 1 every Sunday have sounded much more rumba than rock and roll.

One of the main reasons for this has been the success of Colombian-born singer Shakira, whose Latin pop hits such as Hips Don’t Lie and Whenever, Wherever, have made her a superstar both in the UK and almost every other country in the world.

Shakira is currently on a global tour which recently included a one-nighter at the O2 in London. But while belting out the hits, she also has estate agents to deal with.

The 41-year-old is selling her huge luxury Miami home and downsizing from three to two properties; she has a house in Barcelona where she lives with her footballer partner Gerard Piqué and their sons, and a holiday villa in the Bahamas.

Her 8,708 sq ft Miami home overlooks the city’s waterfront and comes with more than 100 feet of water frontage, a private dock and ocean access.

The six-bedroom, eight-bathroom home is two blocks from the Miami Golf Club and on a street where several celebrities have lived in the past including Matt Damon, Cher, Billy Joel and Jennifer Lopez.

Since purchasing it during the early 1990s Shakira has extensively refurbished the two-story house including a new kitchen and a home gym where special flooring for dancing has been added.
