2016 was the second vote

-

THE current situation regarding Brexit may appear very confusing, but there is a simple way of looking at things, which may be of assistance to readers.

In order to decide the way ahead, on our journey through life there are currently the following three options available: Option (a) “No Deal”; or Option (b) “Deal”; or Option (c) “No Brexit”.

Now, imagine that our journey is in an aeroplane.

Option (a) is like jumping out of the aeroplane without a parachute, and hoping for the best;

Option (b) is like jumping out of the aeroplane, with some sort of cobbled together parachute, which might or might not work; and

Option (c) is like not jumping at all, and continuing our journey in the aeroplane.

In my opinion, Option (c) “No Brexit” is by far the best option.

In order for this to happen, there would have to another referendum (or “People’s Vote”) to ensure that democracy is upheld.

To those who say this would be undemocratic, and that the result of the first referendum should be respected, I would point out that the 2016 referendum was already the second referendum on this subject.

The first such referendum was, in fact, held in 1975 – when the result was two to one in favour of us staying in.
