Socks can be a great fit

-

SWEET Socks came into our care through no fault of his own, accompanied by his older brothers.

This warm-hearted boy loves to be fussed, and especially enjoys head and chin rubs, rubbing back against you in return. Socks has a very loving nature but he can be very shy, especially with new people as he has been moved around a lot.

Socks is looking for a quiet forever home that will give him the time he needs to settle in comfortably and allow him to come out of his shell, so that he can show you how caring and kind he really is. Socks can live with older children and possibly another cat as he is used to the company of his brothers. Is there space in your heart and on your sofa for lovely Socks?

Tinkerbell is still looking for her forever home and is currently our longest stay cat, having been with us since October. This lovely 10 year old lady deserves better than to be stuck in a cattery just waiting for that special someone to come along. She would dearly love to find a quiet relaxed home and someone caring to share her life with.

She is such a sweet and friendly feline, who adores fuss and attention and is happy to reciprocate with lots of licks and rubs. Tinkerbell would prefer a home without other pets where she can be the centre of attention and have that all-important lap space all to herself.

Obviously, she will need regular grooming to keep that beautiful coat in good condition. Do you have all the home comforts, love and companionship to offer our wonderful Tinkerbell?

You may have seen our recent appeal for help with the cost of surgery required by our lovely English bulldog Roman. Just to update everyone, he has had a lovely Christmas in his fantastic foster home, where as you can see he has been enjoying some healthy treats.

Many thanks to everyone who has donated towards his treatment and care, we’re so grateful. He came in to our Hillingdon Clinic just before New Year for a progress check-up and for his foster mum to be briefed on the surgical procedures and the aftercare that will be required.

Roman’s initial operation will be in January and we’ve got all paws crossed that this will go well for our little man who has been suffering ongoing skin, respiratory and eye problems.

Even the smallest amount of antifreeze can cause kidney failure and death when ingested by cats. Accidents from accidental spillages can be avoided by storing bottles safely, cleaning up spillages instantly and disposing of antifreeze products responsibly.

Signs of antifreeze poisoning in cats include vomiting, a sleepy or depressed demeanour, a drunk-like and uncoordinated state, as well as seizures and difficulty breathing.

Signs can begin to show after 30 minutes post-ingestion, with kidney failure indicators showing after two or three days. We advise that you contact your vet immediately if you suspect poisoning.

Most people are unaware of the danger to pets from antifreeze poisoning.

Ingesting the smallest amount can cause kidney failure and death, especially in cats. Please take care and keep your pets safe this winter.

If you can offer a loving home to any of our animals, please call us on 01895 833417 or visit www.rspcahillingdonclinic.org.uk to apply online. Thank you as always for your support.
