DRIVER ARRESTED AFTER ‘DRAMATIC INCIDENT’

A CRASH on Yiewsley High Street injured a child and led to one arrest.

The Metropolit­an Police were called to the busy road at about 6pm on Saturday to reports that two cars had crashed.

The injured child was treated by paramedics at the scene and is expected to make a full recovery. AN AIR ambulance landed in Yiewsley after a man was stabbed repeatedly.

Police have not said if the child was in one of the cars or was a pedestrian on the street.

A Met Police spokespers­on said one of the cars involved in the crash left the scene before officers arrived. A driver, no further details have been released, was later detained and arrested they added.

The spokespers­on confirmed the child’s injuries were “non-life threatenin­g and non-life changing”. scenes of serious incidents, landed in Yiewsley before 1pm on Sunday.

The blockage caused traffic congestion, with several buses diverted, while police tried to move the damaged car.

A witness posting on Facebook described it as a “dramatic accident”, adding that the front of the car was largely destroyed.

Bus routes 222, U3 and U5 were diverted, while route U1 terminated early at Apple Tree Roundabout, but all have since returned to normal. “by a field and some flats in Yiewlsey”. The road in question is close to Yiewsley Recreation Ground and not far from West Drayton station.
