Manhunt for attacker armed with hammer

FOUR VICTIMS WERE THREATENED OR STRUCK

POLICE are investigat­ing four linked assaults that took place in Hayes where several victims were threatened or injured with a hammer.

At 7.21pm on Monday, September 16, a 33-year-old man was robbed of his mobile phone in Botwell Lane by a male suspect with a beard.

The attacker, who was riding a bicycle, was armed with a hammer.

The victim was threatened but not injured during the robbery.

Shortly after, also in Botwell Lane, another man was attacked by a man of the same descriptio­n, again riding a bike, who struck the victim on the head with a hammer.

The injured man was taken by police to a West London hospital – his injuries are not serious.

At 7.40pm on Beechwood Avenue, a 30-year-old man was threatened by a man with a hammer but was not injured.

At 11pm, police were called by London Ambulance Service to reports of a 54-year-old man who had been taken to a West London hospital suffering from head injuries after being attacked from behind.

It is believed he was attacked in the vicinity of Keith Road.

His condition is not life-threatenin­g, although he has been left with serious injuries.

Detective inspector Elly Maggs, of the West Area Command Unit CID, said: “It is vital that we identify, locate and apprehend the male responsibl­e for these unprovoked and extremely violent attacks as a matter of urgency.

“If you have any informatio­n that could assist this investigat­ion, please do not hesitate to call us.”
