Ri-investment opportunity
Rihanna’s former St John’s Wood residence shines bright like a diamond and it could be yours... for £32 million
FOR a couple of years, pop megastar Rihanna rented this fivestorey house in London’s St John’s Wood. Built in the 1800s, it was first owned by diamond tycoon Daniel Francis, director of De Beers.
It has eight bedrooms, six bathrooms, a library, cinema, his and hers dressing rooms, and a driveway with parking for 10 cars.
The singer, 32, recently revealed she loves walking in the area, close to celebrity haunt Primrose Hill, but tries to “keep a little incognito”!
Gary Hersham, Founding Director of Beauchamp Estates, says: “This magnificent house on St John’s Wood Park is perfect for a music, business or political mogul. It is an exceptional property with the garden floor and large garden superb for relaxation whilst the reception room is wonderful for big parties.”
Michael Sulkin, Director of Aston Chase, explains the property is the only one of Royal architect John Shaw’s original villas on St John’s Wood Park to have survived into the 21st century.
“Fully modernised throughout it
offers all the latest specification including CCTV security, home automation, cinema projection system and electronic curtains and blinds,” he says. “The property represents a rare opportunity to be close to Central London yet benefit from the clever ‘V’ shaped plot which provides a 126ft deep by 130ft wide rear garden, normally associated with houses out in the suburbs.”
Providing substantial accommodation over the garden floor, raised ground and three upper floors, with the benefit of a lift, the house has been fully refurbished in recent years and offers multiple reception and family rooms, formal and casual dining rooms, a study/library, a large family kitchen and eight bedrooms, two which can be configured to use as a suite and two configured to allow use as a selfcontained flat/staff quarters.
The garden floor opens onto a 21ft terrace which overlooks the 126ft-deep by 130ft-wide rear garden, an exceptional and private green oasis; given that 70% of homes in London’s five inner most boroughs do not have gardens and Inner London gardens average 36 ft.
The entertaining space has been arranged so that the informal relaxation and leisure areas are on the garden floor whilst the more formal entertaining spaces are on the raised ground level.
On the garden floor is a double-living room arranged to provide a family room and informal dining area with two sets of French doors opening onto the outside terrace. The large fully fitted kitchen is open plan with a central island, walk-in pantry and bar.
The gymnasium is on this floor and is designed for flexible use as a weights room and exercise studio with an adjoining shower room and cloakroom.
On the raised ground floor the entrance hall gives access to the main reception room and study. Benefitting from floor-to-ceiling windows the reception room spans the entire depth of the house, arranged to provide a 12-seat dining area and two lounge areas, with timber flooring, twin fireplaces and two sets of French doors opening onto twin balconies.
The principal bedroom suite is on the first floor and includes the bedroom, an adjoining sitting room, twin dressing rooms and a main bathroom with steam shower and infrared sauna. There are seven further bedrooms, two with ensuites, two with a shared ensuite and one with a separate shower room.
This slice of popstar heaven will set you back £32 million – or is yours to rent at £18,000 per week.
