A new way to help spread some Christmas cheer

WE MAY NOT BE ABLE TO RUN OUR TRADITIONAL GIFT APPEAL THIS YEAR BUT THERE IS STILL A WAY TO SHOW YOUR SUPPORT FOR A WONDERFUL AND WORTHY CAUSE

-

BISHOPS Guildford and FG Barnes Nissan are proud to be working with Gazette, the Chronicle and The Shooting Stars Children Hospice’s once again this Christmas.

However, unlike last year where people were encouraged to buy one or two extra gifts, this year due to current circumstances, we have set up a Just Giving page to encourage donations to support the fantastic work carried out at the hospice.

Last year’s successful campaign saw the generous people of Surrey and surrounding areas donate hundreds of presents to the hospice.

The presents were delivered to the Christmas tree in the Bishops showrooms in Guildford and then they were taken to the hospice in Guildford closer to Christmas.

Whilst we sadly won’t be able to offer this as an option for 2020, we felt the Just Giving page may be a great way for our loyal, supportive customers to still get involved.

Bala Waran, the FG Barnes Company director, said of last year’s campaign: “We were so surprised by the amount of presents donated.

“It was really wonderful to be able to support a local charity at this time of year and I was bowled over and humbled when we delivered everything over the past couple of years.

“We are hoping that this year will be bigger and better and that the local community of readers will support the hospice and the children and their families once again to make it a memorable Christmas.”

Shooting Star Children’s Hospices are a leading children’s hospice charity caring for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions, and their families.

They support families across Surrey and London from diagnosis to end of life and throughout bereavement with a range of nursing, practical, emotional and medical care.

It costs £8.8 million a year to maintain the current level of care and just 8% of that income comes from central government funding, so they rely on our supporters’ generosity to keep the service running.

Giovanni Barbato, account director for Reach PLC, said: “For 14 years we have run the present appeal and have always been blown away by people’s generosity and kindness.

“It’s a shame we won’t be able to run the appeal in the usual way this year but hopefully through the JustGiving page people will still be able to show their support for such a worthy cause.”

The Just Giving page is now ready for donations. The link for this is as follows; www.justgiving. com/fundraising/fgbarneschristmas-appeal.
