‘Most dangerous’ place in borough revealed

THE Metropolit­an Police have published the latest available monthly crime figures and the data reveals which of the 21 areas in Hounslow are the most dangerous, having recorded the most crimes.

The most recent month crime data is available for is February 2022. The informatio­n – which is available for the public to see at met.police.uk – reveals details of how many crimes were recorded and the type of offence.

When combining the latest data for February with the crime statistics for January 2022, it is possible to see which areas of Hounslow have the most recorded cases so far this year.

In January and February 2022 there were 3,634 crimes recorded in the borough of Hounslow with violence against the person (1,246) the highest type of offence, followed by theft (689).

When compared to neighbouri­ng boroughs over the same period, Ealing recorded 4,752 offences and Richmond Upon Thames registered 1,850.

Westminste­r had the highest recorded crime levels over January and February with 10,623 crimes recorded. Here are the areas of Hounslow that recorded the most crimes below:

■■5) Hanworth – 203

The fifth most dangerous area in Hounslow so far this year was

Hanworth, with 203 crimes recorded.

The most prevalent types of crime recorded in the area was for violence against the person, 78 offences, and theft, 27 offences. There were also relatively high levels of vehicle offences (26), burglary (17), public order (14) and also criminal damage and arson (22).

■■4) Syon – 204

Syon had the fourth-highest level of crime in the borough for January.

Violence against the person was highest with 73 offences and theft second with 30 instances. Criminal damage and arson (21) and vehicle crimes (26) were the next highest.

■■3) Brentford – 210

Brentford had the third-highest levels of crime in the borough this year, standing at 210 offences.

Violence against the person (70) was the highest recorded crime, followed by vehicle offences (42) which was higher than theft (26) in third .

■■2) Feltham West – 212

Feltham West witnessed a total of 212 crimes across January and February with violence against the person (85) the top crime in the area.

Theft was second with 44 offences, followed by 21 criminal damage and arson offences.

■■1) Hounslow Town Centre – 291 crimes

There are much higher levels of crime in Hounslow town centre than in any other areas within the borough.

As one of the main shopping areas for the borough and an important location for the nighttime economy, it is not hugely surprising it attracts higher crime rates.

Unlike other areas of Hounslow, theft is the number one crime with 112 instances recorded by police over January and February 2022. The second highest is violence against the person (76) and third is public order offences (32).
