STAR LETTER PRIZE
Hello Vegan Life,
I was wondering if you would be interested in featuring my story.
Last year, COVID-19 devastated lots of lives. I also contracted this and was very poorly. Lockdown proved difficult for all — my partner, diagnosed with cancer, underwent extensive treatment, which still continues. My beloved dog, Phoenix, was soon after diagnosed with bladder cancer. Heartbreakingly, he passed over the over the rainbow bridge. My life, my shadow.
I have been vegan for over 10 years and love Vegan Life magazine, so during this stressful time I put my soul into making cakes and baking bread. My colleagues at work loved my vegan cakes and this started a lovable trend. You see, I work for the NHS as a staff nurse on very busy stroke unit, so keeping spirits high there and at home for myself and partner was a challenge initially, and difficult.
Recently, I entered a vegan ‘bake off’ challenge organised by Animal Aid. My cake was all vegan and I called this ‘Over the rainbow bridge’ in memory of all animals that have passed, including my beautiful Phoenix. Amazingly, to my efforts I won first prize! It is truly unbelievable. Animal Aid even featured my cake recipe on their website. It has been absolutely fantastic and moral boosting for me, my partner and working colleagues. I hope you like the picture of my cake! And hopefully you will consider my story of strength, durability, courage and bringing back happiness.
