Gail McCathie Seafern Candles

Seafern Candles is a luxury plant-based candle and wax melt start-up, based in Dunfermline, Fife. Hand-poured, clean burning and made from only natural plant-based ingredients, the candles and wax melts are available in beautiful and unique fragrances.

Just over two years ago, Gail McCathie, Seafern Candles founder, started making candles as a hobby. Now, her products are being sold by multiple stockists throughout the UK. Gail tells Vegan Life: “I began my candle business as a hobby, as I have a passion for candles. I made them for friends and neighbours, but people started to come back for more. I researched and tested my products for a year and a half before I started selling. I have twin girls, who were a great help — they started up my website and will help when I am extra busy. Having eco-friendly vegan products and using only natural, plant-based wax is important to me, as well as using locally sourced ingredients. I love marketing for Seafern and post most days on our Instagram page. I feel it’s not a job as I love it too much! This month, I’m moving Seafern Candles into a bigger workshop at home for more space. Seafern Candles may be a young brand, but we already have a few stockists and will continue to add in the years to come.”
