New film warns that if we don’t change our relationship with animals, medicine as we know it will end

-

As vegans, most of us are already aware that humankind's relationship with animals is not only evil, but dangerous for us humans, too. A new feature-length documentary from executive producers Joaquin Phoenix (Joker) and Rooney Mara (The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo), seeks to expose this underreported link between global pandemics, the failing of antibiotics and our use of animals.

The film follows former factory farm livestock vet and whistle-blower Dr Alice Brough as she grapples with the enormity of animal agriculture and the key role it has played historically (and currently) in not only killer diseases and pandemics, but climate change and environmental destruction as well.

With expert interviews from industry insiders, government advisors, politicians, premiere scientists and leading doctors, The End Of Medicine sounds the alarm few have heard.

Directed by BAFTA-winning filmmaker, Alex Lockwood (73 Cows) and produced by Keegan Kuhn (Cowspiracy, What The Health), The End of Medicine

seeks to warn us that if we don't act now, and fast, our futures will all be in danger. Are you scared yet?

In a joint statement sent to Vegan Life, executive producers Rooney Mara and Joaquin Phoenix said: "The animal agriculture industry props up its business of keeping thousands upon thousands of animals housed in soiled conditions by the overuse of antibiotics. We cannot exploit and manipulate other animals on a massive scale without corresponding and terrifying consequences. The End of Medicine explores how dangerously close the human population is to complete antimicrobial resistance, the government's complicity and collaboration with the animal agriculture industry, and how unprepared we are for what's to come if we continue to ignore the evidence around us."

Available now in North American territories on iTunes and Apple TV. UK release info soon to be announced.
