Ahead of the show, we catch up with Ed Winters to get insider details on his Vegan Life Live talk
Hi, Ed! We’re excited to have you at Vegan Life Live this year. Please, can you tell us a bit more about what your discussion will cover?
My talk will be about how to have effective conversations with people and how to discuss veganism in a constructive and productive manner. I'll be referencing some of my previous debates and interviews, talking about some of the lessons I've learned from speaking to people from all different walks of life, from Texan cowboys to ranchers, hunters and everyday consumers. I will be pulling together my experience from these conversations to discuss what I found to be the most effective ways of communicating the importance and message of veganism.
Why should people come and listen?
People should come and listen because talking about veganism is one of the most challenging aspects of being vegan. As soon as you go vegan, friends, family, work colleagues and people you encounter will immediately start asking you questions and will begin throwing excuses at you for why they're not vegan. Not only can this be very frustrating, but it can also lead to tension in our interpersonal relationships. So, my talk will help people navigate some of these complex social environments and make them feel more confident and capable of talking about veganism, and the reasons why they're vegan, which will, hopefully, give people the skills they need to influence people in their own life to go vegan as well.
What does the rest of 2022 hold for you?
Throughout 2022, I have some exciting projects coming out, particularly in autumn time, which I'm currently unable to disclose, but I'm really looking forward to discussing this more openly in the future. In the meantime, I have a backlog of debates that I will be uploading to social media. These are debates I filmed during my recent tours of colleges in the US. And I have some exciting speaking arrangements that'll be lined up. In varying businesses, different events, etc. So, throughout 2022 I will just be pushing the message of veganism even more and working towards projects that will be happening later on in the year.
