'SHOP 'til you drop' could have been coined for British visitors heading across the Atlantic, such is its
popularity as a holiday activity. Several states either have no sales tax or exclude clothing from sales taxes, while some stores and outlets have further incentives
for overseas shoppers – time to hit the shops!
GO INDEPENDENT
While the U.s. is known for its malls, visitors seeking something more authentic are in for a treat too. take Haight-ashbury in san Francisco or York boulevard in los angeles, for example, where independent stores, vintage shops and bookshops lie amid myriad cool delis and cafes.
NOT TAXING
Five U.s. states – alaska, Delaware, montana, new Hampshire and oregon – impose no sales tax, with the latter three having no local sales taxes either. other states exempt clothing from sales taxes, among them massachusetts, minnesota, new Jersey, new York, rhode Island and Pennsylvania.
COOL SHOPPING

BIG APPLE BARGAINS
empire outlets, new York city’s first outlet shopping destination, opens in march 2018 at the staten Island Ferry terminal on staten Island with around 100 shops, waterfront dining and a 190-room boutique hotel.

mall of america, the largest retail and entertainment complex in the U.s, celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2017. the bloomington, minnesota, complex offers over 520 stores and restaurants, the nation's largest indoor family theme park, the minnesota aquarium, and even the United states’ longest indoor zip line.
