CORDEN BLEURGH!
Disgust as TV James hosts Hamza for carpool singalong
R OLY-POLY Late Late Show host JAMES CORDEN sparkedoutrage today, after announcing that his latest instalment of Carpool Karaoke will feature none other than hook-handed preacher of hate
ABU HAMZA. The Egypt-born Sunni extremist, 59, is currently serving life imprisonment in Colorado for 11 separate terror charges. However, he will be granted temporary release next week in order to join big-boned Corden, 39, for a light-hearted in-car singalong.
Speaking to reporters in Los Angeles this morning, Corden explained how the controversial cameo came about.
“Abu contacted myself and the production team via Facetime from his high-security cell to say that he loved the show, and particularly enjoyed the Carpool Karaoke section,” Corden revealed. “He said he’d especially liked the Ed Sheeran episode, which had made him quite literally ‘fall about laughing’. And then, at the end of the call, he told us he had a bit of parole coming up, and asked whether we’d be up for having him on as a guest.”
The portly Gavin & Stacey fave continued: “We normally just feature A-List singers, rather than cycloptic fundamentalists, but The Late Late Show is all about pushing boundaries, so in the end we just thought, ‘Why not?’”
Corden told journalists he is confident that any sceptics will be won over as soon as the segment airs, since it will feature the usual mix of top tunes and cheeky banter.
“Abu will join me in the passenger seat to sing along to a medley of his favourite hits, such as Walking On
Sunshine, Like A Virgin and Agadoo,” he said. “And in between, I’ll be grilling the militant ex-Imam on everything from his favourite pizza toppings and best holiday destinations to his ultimate dream of bringing about the complete destruction of the corpulent, decadent West.” “It should be a great show,” he added. And it seems that Hamza isn’t the only maximum security prisoner soon to feature on a light-hearted TV series hosted by a former Gavin & Stacey star. At time of press it has just been announced that ‘Yorkshire Ripper’ Peter Sutcliffe will appear on the next series of Rob Brydon’s Would I Lie To You?
