TIPTON GAME OF THRONES TOUR ITINERARY

-

0.00 Leave Tipton Bus Depot on Leasowe Rd

0.15 Ash Road. 25-minute stop to disembark and look at the home of Mr John Pavey, who owns and has read nearly all of George RR Mar tin’s A Song of Fire and Ice novels, which are the inspiration for Game of Thrones. Passengers will have the chance to chat to Mr Pavey about his experiences reading the books, pose for ’selfies’, and get their tour programmes signed by him.

0.45 15 minutes stop at the pillar box on the corner of Silvertrees Road and Birch Street, where Jerome Flynn – who plays mercenary Bron in the show – is thought to have posted a letter to his mum in 1995 whilst in the area filming an episode of Soldier Soldier. Passengers can get down, stretch their legs, take photos and even post their own letters in the very same box.

1.05 A shor t comfor t break back at the Bus Depot on Leasowe Rd to use the toilets and get refreshments from the vending machines in the waiting room. Then it’s back on the bus.

1.25 Arrive at Ace Video on Union Street, where passengers can go in and see a boxed set of the first seven series of Game of Thrones on sale on a shelf. (Due to limited space inside the shop, only five visitors can enter at any one time, so you will need to be patient. But don’t worry, everybody will get a chance to see the boxed set.)

2.00 Back to Mr Pavey’s house on Ash Road, in case he wasn’t in earlier or there was something someone forgot to ask him.

2.30 New Cross Street. A one-hour stop to visit a stall on the covered market which sells caps very similar to the sort of caps that George RR Martin wears. Passengers can take pictures of the caps on the stall, chat to the stallholder about his Game of Thrones hats, and try on or even buy a cap of their own to show the folks back home. Then it’s back to the Ash Rd Bus Depot again for another wellearned toilet break and go on the venders! Then it’s back on board the bus for a ten-minute drive West along Sedgeley Rd.

4.00 Arrive at Bean Drive disused railway track, and disembark to spend 15 minutes looking at a horse (similar to those ridden by the Dothraki in their quest for the Iron Throne of the Seven Kingdoms), which is tethered to a metal spike on the grass verge next to the lay-by. Passengers can take pictures of the horse, but are warned not to get too close, as this horse – unlike the Dothraki’s steeds – has been known to nip children.

4.30 The highlight of the trip – a half-hour stop on Brick Kiln Road for a 20-minute photocall with a genuine star of Game of Thrones’s brother. Tipton panel beater Malcolm Cavendish’s brother Stewart (also a panel beater) appeared in the Season 5 finale as a crowd extra in the iconic ‘Walk of Shame’ scene and here is a chance to meet and greet him in person (Malcolm not Stewar t). Passengers can ask Mr Cavendish to ask his brother what it was like filming that scene, whether it was really a body double, and whether he got to see her fanny.

4:45 Back to Ash Road for a final chance to pick Mr Pavey’s brain before the tour’s end.

5.00 Tour finishes and passengers disembark back at Leasowe Rd Bus Depot, for final use of toilet facilities and venders.
