Tipton tourist chief launches Game of Thrones bus trip initiative
ABLACK Country town is celebrating its links to hit HBO blockbuster Game of Thrones with the launch of a bus tour around local sites linked to the hit show. And Tipton, near Dudley, is now bracing itself for an influx of millions of fans from all over the world, keen to sample all the Game of Thrones landmarks and points of interest around the town.
“Tipton probably isn’t the first place that springs to mind when you think about Game of Thrones,” said the council’s Head of Tourism Hugo Guthrie. “But you’d be amazed by how many incredible links this town has with the world’s most popular television programme.”
“And our 5-hour executive coach tour takes in all those sights and places of interest, giving visitors the chance to breathe in the atmosphere and see everything and more that Tipton has to offer.”

And according to Guthrie, many of the show’s biggest stars will be travelling on the bus, giving passengers a running commentary as they make our way around the town’s streets. “They will be explaining how Tipton has shaped Game of Thrones, and offering a unique insight into what it’s like to appear in a world famous show with so many fascinating local links,” he guaranteed.
Pressed by reporters to explain which stars he was referring to, Guthrie confirmed that Charles Dance, Emilia Clarke, Peter Dinklage and Kit Harrington had all been approached. “We wrote to them six weeks ago, and they haven’t got back to definitely say no yet, so that’s a very good sign,” he said.

Guthrie said that 65-seater tourist coaches will leave Tipton Bus Depot on Leasowe Road every half hour, more frequently during school holidays. “We’ve managed to keep the price down by negotiating a great deal with my brother-inlaw who runs one of Tipton’s leading coach hire companies,” he told reporters.
