Uniqueness of county still little-known to public, say TV gurus

TV BOSSES are said to be growing increasing­ly frustrated that they are not getting their message across about the quaintness of Cornwall. And despite thousands of hours of airtime devoted across hundreds of shows about the county, viewers still don’t seem to be entirely sure about what makes Cornwall so unique.

“I mean, Jesus fucking Christ, how many more of these fucking shows do we have to make before people finally catch on to the uniqueness of the place?” said one unnamed TV producer.

“We’re down there every fucking week doing a show about the idiosyncra­tic coastline or the quintessen­tiality of Cornish villages. But stop Joe fucking public in the street and all they can remember about Cornwall is Doc fucking Martin and fucking Poldark,” he added.

added that they were working hard on a new series in order to get it into the thickas-shit public’s minds that there is so much more to Cornwall.

And this sentiment was echoed by a producer on Cornwall with Caroline Quentin, who confessed that last week that she got into a blazing row with someone who couldn’t remember anything at all about Tintagel. “I’m wasting my fucking time here,” she said. “They sit in front of their fucking shit pump watching our shows, and they still can’t give you one fucking reason why Cornwall is a county like no other.”

However, a member of the production team on Cornwall Walks with Julia Bradbury blamed chef Rick Stein for creating confusion about the county, with many members of the public confusing Cornwall with Simon Reeve with Stein’s own show Rick Stein’s Cornwall.
