LIZA’S VOICE HITS RIGHT NOTE FOR EYEBROWS
PONTYPRIDD singer Liza Baker stunned The Voice coaches on last night’s show with her stunning rendition of Heart’s Alone, bagging herself a place on Jennifer Hudson’s team. So impressed by her range was he that judge Will.i.am told her: “When you hit that note my eyebrows fell off.”
Viewers warmed to the 44-year-old, who is a professional tribute act, when she explained she wanted to sing using her own voice rather than mimic the likes of Whitney Houston, Celine Dion and Tina Turner.
After singing Alone, she said: “That’s me doing me. I’ve been wanting all my life to sound like myself. I love to do them (tribute performances) but you just want to be yourself, don’t you?”
Not only did the coaches agree but they also complimented Liza on her singing abilities. Jennifer Hudson said: “I love how effortless it was. You didn’t see it coming, you often hear people bracing for a note like that.”
Jennifer was the only coach to turn for Liza but that didn’t stop the compliments flowing.
Gavin Rossdale added: “Your voice is unbelievable, you switched right out of nowhere and the crowd went nuts.”
Sir Tom Jones told Liza that he admired her and that she had a strong voice.
He added one more singer to his team – 28-year-old Rhyann Thomas from Birmingham who sang I Swear by All-For-One.
