How they rated

-

ALLAN MCGREGOR

If he had little chance with the well-placed Kermogant free-kick, you have to question his involvement in the opener where a stronger save could have diverted danger. Little else to deal with.

LEE PELTIER

Solid and did stop Chris Gunter having much of an attacking say down his side, though offered little going forward himself.

SOL BAMBA

Couple of the usual strong interceptions but got dragged around more than he should have and then got caught out by Kermogant in giving away the decisive free-kick.

GREG HALFORD

Didn’t impose himself on the game whatsoever and failed to make much of an impact before making way.

SEAN MORRISON (CAPT)

Was a real physical asset for Cardiff, underlined as he bustled his way into the box to earn Cardiff’s penalty against his old side.

JAZZ RICHARDS

Struggled against McCleary to begin with but did well to stand ground and showed his experience in the wing-back role, though Cardiff will want more of him further up field if possible.

JOE RALLS

Hit the post and got the leveller from the spot but didn’t disguise the fact Cardiff lost out in the midfield battle, even if he did try his best to drive forward after Kermogant’s goal.

ARON GUNNARSSON

Seemed very leggy in first-half and though shook himself into life and clearly tried to get around to have usual midfield influence, not at this season’s standards.

JUNIOR HOILETT

With Whittingham in reserve, the former QPR man’s delivery seemed to be Carduff’s best avenue of creativity, but though he did well to get into areas he too often disappointed and didn’t meet physical challenge.

KENNETH ZOHORE

Better than at Brighton though still didn’t come close to really testing Al-Habsi. Good hold up play was welcome and decent strength while some nice signs of understanding with Healey.
