TRIBUTE music festival GlastonBARRY returns this summer, promising to be bigger than ever. Organisers of the festival for tribute bands are expecting around 4,000 people on each day of the event, with acts portraying the late David Bowie and Prince among those performing.

The festival will be held in Romilly Park, Barry, on Saturday, July 29, and Sunday, July 30.

Among the acts performing will be: Prince tribute band Purple Rain, David Bowie tribute band Absolute Bowie, The Stevie Wonder Experience, Oasis tribute band Oasish, UB40 tribute band Johnny2Bad, ACDC UK, Kings of Leon tribute band The Four Licks, The Jam tribute band The Jamd, Stereophonics tribute band Stereotonics, The Bryan Adams Effect, Verve UK and a Ska tribute act which is to be confirmed.

There will also be a performance from London’s The Valli Boys, as well as some local cover bands and some special guests.

Cousins Matt Blumberg and Ross Mackintosh created the music festival in their hometown, and held the first event at the Memo Arts Centre in Barry in 2013. Since then it has grown bigger every year and become one of the biggest tribute music festivals in the UK.

Ross said: “GlastonBARRY 2017 is by far the biggest event we have ever done.

“We’re working with the best bands we have ever worked with. We have a much bigger capacity, and have 12 of the UK’s biggest and best tribute acts, plus local support acts over two stages.

“We have kept the prices very low and that wouldn’t have been possible without the help of our sponsors.

“We have done a lot of research and you won’t find a more reasonably priced tribute festival in the UK.”

Matt added: “We are both blown away by the support and response we have had for GlastonBARRY.

“It’s really caught the imagination and in previous years we’ve even had people flying in from California, New Zealand, Spain and Tonga to attend. It’s quite amazing!”

Early bird tickets are a discounted £25 and VIP tickets are £45 each.
