GLASTONBAR­RY TICKETS ALERT

ALMOST 3,000 tickets have already been sold ahead of this year’s GlastonBAR­RY which promises to be bigger than ever. Organisers of the festival for tribute bands are warning people to get in quick for the remaining tickets for the summer event which will this year pay homage to two giants of the music industry who died last year.

VIP tickets for the event have sold out.

Organisers are expecting around 4,000 people for each day of the event, with acts portraying the David Bowie and Prince among those performing.

The festival will be held in Romilly Park, Barry, on Saturday, July 29, and Sunday, July 30.

This year’s event, which will have two stages, will feature 14 bands over the two days.

The line-up includes Prince tribute band Purple Rain, 11-piece band The Stevie Wonder Experience, David Bowie tribute Absolute Bowie, Oasis tribute Oasish, UB40 tribute Johnny2Bad, ACDC Tribute ACDC UK, Kings of Leon tribute The Four Kicks, The Jam tribute The Jamd, Stereophon­ics tribute Stereotoni­cs’ Bryan Adams tribute The Bryan Adams Effect, The Verve tribute Verve UK and a Ska tribute which is to be confirmed.

There will also be a performanc­e from London’s The Valli Boys as well as some local cover bands and special guests.

This year will also see a 4,000 capacity circus big top arena so whatever the weather, everyone will be covered.

Cousins Matt Blumberg and Ross Mackintosh created the music festival in their hometown and held the first event at The Memo Arts Centre in Barry in 2013.

Since then it has grown bigger every year and become one of the biggest tribute music the UK.

Matt said: “We are both blown away by the support and response we have had for GlastonBAR­RY over the past five years. It’s really caught the imaginatio­n of everyone in south Wales and we have people travelling from all around the UK to attend. In previous years festivals in we’ve even had people flying in from California, New Zealand, Spain and Tonga to attend the festival. It’s quite amazing.”
