BARRY TOWN UNITED’S march back towards the Welsh Premier League continued after coming from behind to win 3-1 at Ton Pentre to remain five points clear at the top of Welsh League Division One.

Phil Clarke gave the hosts a first-half lead at Ynys Park but, after the hosts had Liam Hutchinson sent off for a poor tackle, Curtis Watkins levelled from the resulting free-kick.

The visitors then had James Dixon sent off to even the numbers up again, but Barry went on to secure maximum points through further goals from Drew Fahiya and skipper James Sadler.

Nearest challengers Goytre kept their own title hopes alive with the Gwent side running out 5-0 winners at Afan Lido.

Dan McDonald was at the double for Goytre with Sam O’Sullivan, Josh Brown and Lewis Sommers grabbing the other goals.

Barry have the edge with five games to play, while Haverfordwest County remain seven points behind the leaders after their thumping 6-2 home win over Port Talbot Town.

Rhys Dalling and Steffan Williams scored twice with Sean Pemberton and Ashley Bevan grabbing the other goals.

Division Two leaders Llanelli Town’s scheduled game at Garden Village was postponed but second-placed Briton Ferry Llansawel missed the chance to go level on points after they were held 2-2 at Ammanford.

However, with four games in hand, it’s surely sa matter of when and not if Llanelli – the only unbeaten side remaining in the Welsh League – wrap up the title.

In Division Three, leaders STM Sports beat Tredegar Town 4-1.
