Don’t Take Me Home DVD is triumphant

-

DON’T Take Me Home, the movie that charts Wales’ triumphant Euro 2016 campaign, has gone into the DVD charts at number one – before it has even been officially released.

The movie, named after the signature chant of Wales’ indomitable army of football fans, the Red Wall, will be released on DVD tomorrow – and it appears that fans s can’t get enough of thee film, that was hugely popular when it was released in cinemas earlier this year.

It recounts an adventure of epic proportions, an underdog story worthy of a blockbuster movie.

Lucky, then, that Wales’ incredible journey to the semi-finals of the 2016 European Championships was perfectly captured in the documentary from Merthyr-born Jonny Owen – described by The Guardian as “football’s greatest filmmaker”.

The movie tells the story of a remarkable few weeks in France as Wales shook the footballing world. As history unfolds on screen the film focuses on the players, manager and supporters who played their part in creating the greatest moments in Welsh football history.

Now the DVD release sits at number one in the Amazon Sports DVD charts, while the Blu-Ray version is also the fourth biggest-selling release, in a top five that also includes releases from Manchester United and the British and Irish Lions.

“I’m so pleased to see a film about the Welsh football team on top of the charts,” s said Jonny, who is hard at w work on a new football p project. “I honestly think we are living in the time of our greatest football team. L Let’s savour and enjoy every second, we deserve it.

“When I made the film I co couldn’t help but get very at attached to the players. E Even more than I did last su summer – which I thought w would be impossible, but th they really are a terrific bu bunch and have a great cam maraderie. I think that came fro from the adversity they went through. I’ve tried to get that over in the film. To tell the story of where they came from. It’s remarkable that they were the lowest-ranked Welsh team ever and rose to be the highest.

“A year later and people are still talking about it. That’s wonderful. I hope this film can help them relive it too. That was my aim, anyway.”
