SOUTH Wales Premier Cricket League leaders Cardiff suffered a blow to their title hopes when hosts Ynysygerwn secured a winning draw.

Ynysygerwn batted first and made a total of 240-7 before Cardiff were 213-8 at the close.

Ammanford beat visitors Penarth by 45 runs after batting first and making a total of 218-7 off their 50 overs, Alun Evans hitting 71 and Elis Richards 55 with Richard Skone taking 3-36.

Penarth were then bowled out for 173 with Matthew Roberts and Sean Coaker taking three wickets each.

Neath beat visitors Bridgend Town by six wickets after Bridgend batted first and were dismissed for 171.

Alex Jones was top scorer in making 62 with Sean Griffiths and Matthew Pearce each taking two wickets before Neath made 172-4 in reply.

Pontarddul­ais beat champions Newport by five wickets after Newport batted first and posted a total of 160-8, Michael Clayden making an unbeaten 47, before Bont made 161-5 in reply.

Mumbles went down at home to Port Talbot Town by 39 runs under the Duckworth Lewis ruling after Mumbles batted first and were bowled out for 184m Aneurin Norman making 53.

Port Talbot made 156-4 in reply when play was abandoned, Anthony Thomas making 72.

In Division Two, St Fagans thumped visitors Clydach by 142 runs after batting first and posting a total of 263-5.

Matthew Thompson hit a superb 79 with Gareth Rees and Andrew Leering each making 55.

Chris Kellard then caused havoc in the Clydach ranks, returning the impressive figures of 6-40 as the visitors were bowled out for just 121 in just over 25 overs.

Tondu went down at home to Panteg by six wickets after batting first and making 177-9, Wayne Butler top scoring with 51 while Christophe­r Mee and David Filer took three wickets apiece.

Panteg made 178-4 in reply, Lloyd Smith making 63.
