How they rated

- BY DOMINIC BOOTH

NEIL ETHERIDGE

Made a smart stop with his legs when Bamba’s under-hit backpass gifted a chance for Morison and saved again from the frontman after the interval.

LEE PELTIER

Battled hard and selflessly switched to the left once Bennett had gone off to show he is the ultimate team man. Rarely flashy, but always dependable.

BRUNO MANGA

Started with a couple of sloppy early touches and put a 28th-minute header over the crossbar. Looked unsettled and off the pace throughout. Not his usual composed self.

SEAN MORRISON (C)

Solid without being spectacular. We’re used to saying that about the Cardiff captain and he did well enough against the Lions’ forwards and will be happy with a clean sheet.

JOE BENNETT

Asked to provide width in a left wing-back position as Junior Hoilett drifted inside, but limped off injured after 35 minutes.

CRAIG BRYSON

Ran his socks off, as usual, but never really got enough time on the ball to assert himself. The on-loan man was as impressive as his previous displays.

JOE RALLS

Guilty of playing too many sideways passes and not taking the game by the scruff of the neck. Booked late on.

NATHANIEL MENDEZ-LAING

A barnstorming early burst down the right was typical of the winger’s impact on this team. He’s almost always one of the protagonists for this Warnock side if a little wasteful at times here.

JUNIOR HOILETT

Given the freedom to drift inside and switch places with Mendez-Laing, but lacked an end product. It wasn’t the Canadian’s best display, for sure. He conceded too many soft fouls that allowed Millwall’s back four an easy escape.

DANNY WARD

Struggled to hold the ball up against the Lions’ back two, but went close twice in the first half and did his best with some hard running. He’s much better when given the ball along the deck.

SUBSTITUTES

Calum Paterson (for Bennett, 37) Made an impact. 7 Omar Bogle (for Ward, 64) Wasn’t presented with a clear chance. 6 Lee Tomlin (for Bryson, 74) Brought on a little too late. 6 Subs not used: Murphy, Feeney, Halford, Damour.

Archer, McLaughlin, Hutchinson, Cooper, Meredith, Wallace (Onyedinma, 90), Tunnicliffe, Saville, O’Brien (Elliott, 78), Gregory (Ferguson, 78), Morison. Subs not used: Martin, Craig, Thompson, Romeo.
