How they rated

- BY CHRIS WATHAN

LUKASZ FABIANSKI

Looked uncharacteristically shaky to start with but still made some key saves to give the scoreline some credibility.

KYLE NAUGHTON

It’s getting tiresome seeing how many times opposition score and Naughton has let his side down in the build up. Not good enough.

ALFIE MAWSON

Big block on Hendrick and at death and some good aerial wins but also showed up that he needs to improve having been pulled out of position.

FEDERICO FERNANDEZ

Bullied by Barnes and didn’t offer any real authority at the back. Not the time to have a dip in form he had impressed with at the start of campaign.

MARTIN OLSSON

Back after injury and ability to at least offer himself wide was welcomed, though erred a few times at the back.

SAM CLUCAS

Was given another chance to show what he can do but struggled again. Not helped by the questionable midfield set-up and still suffering with confidence but, to his credit, kept involved.

LEROY FER

Struggled with even the basics of passing to a teammate. Offered next to nothing. Replaced by Ki though could have easily made way earlier.

NATHAN DYER

Gave side an outlet with darting runs that at least gave some option of attack, though it provided little.

TAMMY ABRAHAM

Good footwork and some optimism from his play with Bony but no real chance and then worried with back problem.

JORDAN AYEW

One good dart to the byline that forced Lowton to put over his own bar but nothing to add and made way for Bony at break.

STAR MAN: RENATO SANCHEZ

First start for the Portugal international in a month and showed some good flashes and what he might be able to bring in a better side, though still defensively weak
