- ALEXANDER BRITTON Press Association

AUK ticket holder has won nearly £78m in the EuroMillions draw after sharing the jackpot with a winner from Spain. The jackpot has been growing since the turn of the year and stood at £154m – the highest since October 2017 when the sum was £170,810,000.

The numbers drawn were 10, 17, 18, 28, 47, and Lucky Stars were 3 and 7, with the jackpot winners landing £77,798,898.10 each.

The prize represents the ninth biggest win ever for a UK Euromillions ticket.

The ticket holder came forward yesterday and the jackpot prize will be paid out at the ticket validation appointment, which can only take place when the banks are open.

It will then be up to the ticket holder to decide whether they want to go public with their win.

The National Lottery has yet to release any details of the British winner, including whether it was an individual or a syndicate.

If it does turn out to be an individual winner, he or she would instantly find that they are as rich as Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe, according to the Sunday Times Rich List figures for 2017.

Andy Carter, senior winners’ adviser at the National Lottery, said: “Wow, what a win for one lucky UK ticket-holder.

“This is the 10th biggest winner this country has ever seen and we look forward to toasting their win.”

“By buying a ticket for EuroMil- lions or any other National Lottery game, every player is helping to raise money for good causes.”

There were also seven £1m winners in the UK in the special event draw – and all players are urged to check their tickets to see if they are a winner.

Colin and Christine Weir hold the record for largest ever Euromillions win by a UK ticket holder after picking up £161m in 2011.
