Pub is named the best in Wales and England

WALES boasts many fine pubs, many of which are award-winning – but one of them has just been named the best pub in the whole of Wales and England.

Sawday’s, a specialist travel company which looks at some of the finest places to eat and stay across the UK, has announced the Stackpole Inn as the “best allrounder”.

The Bristol-based travel company described the Stackpole Inn, in Pembrokeshire, as “dreamy”.

Only a short walk from Barafundle Bay, which was voted one of the best beaches in the world in 2017, the pub attracts tourists and locals alike.

The award came as a surprise to Gary and Becky Evans, the husband and wife team who run the pub.

“I’m not sure what the criteria was, but it’s nice to know we are basically the best of the best,” said Gary.

“We are so proud of our amazing team at the inn and the recognition for the hard work everyone, both front of house and in the kitchen, puts in.

“We constantly strive to offer a fantastic taste of Pembrokeshire for our guests, using the very best local fresh fish and ingredients throughout our menu.”

Judges from Sawday’s said: “The food is tasty, the bedrooms are super, kids and dogs are welcomed. You won’t want to leave.”
