Man held af­ter pedes­trian is hurt in al­leged hit-and-run

A MAN has been arrested af­ter a pedes­trian was se­ri­ously in­jured in an al­leged hit-and-run in Cardiff.

A 24-year-old man was taken to the Uni­ver­sity Hos­pi­tal of Wales with life- threat­en­ing in­juries af­ter he was al­legedly hit by a ve­hi­cle on Caer­philly Road in Cardiff just af­ter 1am yes­ter­day.

Po­lice have now arrested a 44-year- old man, from Cardiff, in con­nec­tion with the in­ci­dent.

He has been arrested on sus­pi­cion of driv­ing with­out due care and at­ten­tion, driv­ing while un­der the in­flu- ence of al­co­hol and fail­ing to stop at the scene of an ac­ci­dent.

Of­fi­cers from South Wales Po­lice and am­bu­lance crews were called to the scene in the early hours of the morn­ing. An eye wit­ness said: “Caer­philly Road was cut off near Sweet Pea Nurs­ery.

“There were about two po­lice vans and about four or five cars.”
