HAS THOMAS KEPT PLACE ON X FACTOR?
AWELSH hopeful is looking to secure a place in the live finals of the X Factor after singing at one of the judge’s homes. Thomas Pound, pictured right, who’s a cleaner by day and a drag queen by night, made it through the Six-Chair Challenge round of the singing competition last week.
In last night’s episode the 20-year-old from Bridgend, was tasked with singing for former One Direction star Louis Tomlinson, who’s mentoring the boys on the show.
At Louis’ house in Ibiza, Thomas performed in front of Louis’ exband mate Liam Payne and music legend Nile Rodgers. Before he sang for the trio, Thomas said: “The Six-Chair Challenge, that’s when I found that fight.
“Today is crunch time, this is the most important day of my life I think,” he added, before welling up.
In previous shows, Thomas has performed as his alter-ego Lady Freida Wylde, but this week he wore a pink suit with a black hat and sunglasses.
Louis asked the Welsh singer to take off his sunglasses so he could see Thomas’ eyes, before asking for an introduction.
Thomas said: “My name is Thomas Pound. I’m here with a message; Be who you are, be different and be you.
Thomas belted out a rendition of One Night Only by Leading Ladies, which got fellow contestants dancing and judges tapping their feet.
After the performance, Louis said: “Thomas, your unapologetic personality is so infectious, I just couldn’t stop smiling man.”
Liam said: “You dared to come out and do something different and the fact you, as the song said, put it right on the line is quite a beautiful thing really.”
And in a quiet chat between the three judges, Liam later added: “His confidence is fantastic and I think that’s going to carry him so far.”
The episode revealed Robbie Williams’ final four groups, which are LMA Choir, A Star, Misunderstood and Vibe 5.
But has Thomas done enough to secure a place in the live finals? Find out tonight when Louis reveals his decision.
X Factor is on tonight at 8pm on ITV.
