Armed po­lice re­cover guns in Swansea

TWO men were ar­rested af­ter armed po­lice were sent to an in­ci­dent in a Swansea street yes­ter­day.

Of­fi­cers re­port­edly re­cov­ered two hand­guns af­ter be­ing called to a do­mes­tic in­ci­dent in Pe­niel Green Road in Llansam­let.

“Po­lice were called at 11.17am,” a South Wales Po­lice spokesman said.

“Two men, aged 34 and 35 years old, have been ar­rested and are in po­lice cus­tody. Armed of­fi­cers were de­ployed to en­sure the safety of the pub­lic and of­fi­cers in the area.”

It’s un­der­stood one man was de­tained in the house while an­other was held nearby.

One res­i­dent liv­ing nearby, who didn’t want to be named, said: “It was quite a scene. I saw armed of­fi­cers com­ing and go­ing, and then other of­fi­cers brought out what I heard were guns.

“This is a busy road and loads of peo­ple were driv­ing past while it was hap­pen­ing. I saw the po­lice tak­ing a 4x4 away on a lorry. It’s crazy to think of guns be­ing around here.”
