Fan pops question four years after being told to shut up
A MAN who first met his partner after she told him to “shut the **** up” at a rugby game four years ago has just got down on one knee and proposed in the very place they first met.
Rob Hannah surprised partner Courtney Sutton with a proposal outside the Principality Stadium before the Wales v Scotland game. He got a round of applause from those who witnessed it.
The couple first met four years ago at the Wales v Fiji match at the Principality Stadium.
Courtney, 27, an NHS audiologist from Swansea, was sat in front of Rob, a Scotsman, and took exception when he cheered on Fiji.
Rob, 34 said: “She turned around and told me to shut the f*** up,” he laughed. “We ended up chatting and had a bit of banter back and forth and then we ended up meeting up after it and it went from there.
“She’s changed my life completely, I’m a better man since I met her and I’ve never been happier. Can’t wait for the next 50/60 years together.”
Nine months after the game, the pair decided to move in together in Dundee.
And then, two years later, the pair welcomed their child, Olivia, into the world, on October 18, 2016.
“Life has been totally different and amazingly chaotic since she was born, we’re just waiting to see what sort of accent Olivia has considering she has a Welsh mum, a dad from Glasgow and is living in Dundee!”
Speaking of the proposal, Rob said: “It’s where we first met, in the same seats we sat in four years ago.
“I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to propose during a Wales v Scotland game, in the Principality Stadium, on the month of the anniversary of when we first met.
“I’ve just proposed in front of a man playing the bagpipes to the Welsh national anthem and she said yes!
“I’m buzzing, it feels unreal. I can’t believe it. I was really nervous.”
Courtney added, before yesterday’s game: “I could not believe it. I was walking along and all of a sudden the bagpipes started playing the Welsh national anthem, and Rob proposed.
“It’ll be interesting to see how this game ends, we always argue about the rugby! I might let him win this one seeing as he’s just proposed!”
