A34-YEAR-OLD woman died yes­ter­day af­ter be­ing rushed to hos­pi­tal from a gym in Pon­typridd. Emer­gency ser­vices were called to Pa­cific Fit­ness in Ton­teg Road on Tre­for­est In­dus­trial Es­tate at 9.40am.

A spokes­woman for South Wales Po­lice said they were called to as­sist the Welsh Am­bu­lance Ser­vice with a “med­i­cal emer­gency”.

The air am­bu­lance at­tended the scene along with a rapid re­sponse ve­hi­cle, emer­gency am­bu­lance and im­me­di­ate care doc­tor.

An am­bu­lance spokesman con­firmed the ca­su­alty was taken to the Royal Glam­or­gan Hos­pi­tal at Llantrisant.

A po­lice spokes­woman said: “She was de­clared de­ceased a short time later.”

Wit­ness Han­nah Har­ries said she saw the air am­bu­lance at the scene for about an hour.

Jamie Blake­more, a shop as­sis­tant at Pet­wise Aquat­ics, said: “I heard the air am­bu­lance over the top of the shop. It landed right out­side.”

Po­lice con­firmed the death was not be­ing treated as sus­pi­cious. The woman’s next of kin and HM Coro­ner have been in­formed.
