GYM EMERGENCY WOMAN HAS DIED
A34-YEAR-OLD woman died yesterday after being rushed to hospital from a gym in Pontypridd. Emergency services were called to Pacific Fitness in Tonteg Road on Treforest Industrial Estate at 9.40am.
A spokeswoman for South Wales Police said they were called to assist the Welsh Ambulance Service with a “medical emergency”.
The air ambulance attended the scene along with a rapid response vehicle, emergency ambulance and immediate care doctor.
An ambulance spokesman confirmed the casualty was taken to the Royal Glamorgan Hospital at Llantrisant.
A police spokeswoman said: “She was declared deceased a short time later.”
Witness Hannah Harries said she saw the air ambulance at the scene for about an hour.
Jamie Blakemore, a shop assistant at Petwise Aquatics, said: “I heard the air ambulance over the top of the shop. It landed right outside.”
Police confirmed the death was not being treated as suspicious. The woman’s next of kin and HM Coroner have been informed.
